Ghana’s Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Ms.AkuaSenaDansua, hosted a Cocktail Reception at the Maritim Hotel, Berlin, on 11th March, 2016 to commemorate Ghana’s 59th Independence Anniversary.

The event was attended by her colleague Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic Missions in Germany, officials of the Federal Foreign Office and other Federal Government institutions, representatives of partner organisations and stakeholders of the Embassy, the private sector, some Ghanaian Chiefs as well as leaders and representatives of the Ghanaian Community in Germany.

In her speech, Amb. Akua Dansua, among others,paid tribute to Ghana’s Founding Fathers and all the successive Leaders of the Country for their contributions to the development of Ghana. She highlighted the cordial bilateral relations between Ghana and Germany and expressed gratitude to the German Federal Government for its development assistance to Ghana over the years. She also urged the German private sector to take advantage of the enormous opportunities and conducive business environment in Ghana to invest in the Country.

On Ghana’s upcoming general elections in November 2016, Amb. Dansuapledged Government’s support to ensure a peaceful, free, fair and transparent electoral outcome. She stated that Government was resourcing relevant State institutions such as the Electoral Commission, the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) and the various security agencies to effectively carry out their duties in the upcoming elections. She accordingly called on all stakeholders, including the political parties and Civil Society Organisation in Ghana as well as Ghanaian compatriots in the diaspora, friends and development partners of Ghana to support efforts at ensuring a peaceful and transparent election.

The event was spiced by cultural performances from the Adikanfo Cultural Troup, a Ghanaian group based in Berlin. Guests were also treated to drinks and Ghanaian finger foods.
