On 23rd January, 2018, H.E. Amb. Gina Ama Blay delivered a speech at the Annual New Year Reception of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) which was held at the Berlin Messe.The event which focused attention on fair production and fair purchasing in the cocoa and cotton industries, was attended by officials of the BMZ and its partners, Members of the Bundestag, a cross section of the diplomatic corps, as well as representatives of governmental institutions, civil society and the private sector. Amb. Gina Blay used her speech to highlight how price volatilities on the international cocoa market was affecting cocoa farmers in developing countries and called on all players in the cocoa value chain to act to stem the tide. The event was also addressed by  Dr. Gerd Müller, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, and  Mr. Christian Schmidt, Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture.
