Mr. Klaus Wegener has been appointed as the new Honorary Consul of Ghana in Dortmund, Federal Republic of Germany with jurisdiction over the Consular District of the State of North Rhine Westphalia.  Her Excellency Gina A. Blay presented an Exequatur, signed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, on Tuesday, 18th February 2020, to enable him assume office.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Blay underscored the importance of the Ghana-NRW partnership in promoting social and cultural exchange and facilitating the realization of the Ghana beyond Aid Agenda, and thereby urged the newly appointed Hon. Consul to remain committed and dedicated to serve the interests of Ghana, particularly in the areas of trade and investment promotion, and the provision of consular services.

The Honorary Consulate is located in the building housing the headquarters of Auslandsgesellschaft – a German organisation that promotes international cooperation.

Also present at the ceremony was Ghana’s retired Hon. Consul, Manfred Schroder who served Ghana for more than 55 years as well as the Mayor of the city of Dortmund, Manfred Sauer.
