On 6th February, 2019, H. E. Gina Blay, Ambassador of Ghana with concurrent accreditation to Latvia, joined a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ghana to participate in the second edition of political consultations between Ghana and Latvia; hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia. The Ghanaian delegation was led by the Chief Director of MFA of Ghana, H.E. Albert F. Yankey, and the Latvian delegation-Ambassador, Head of the Bilateral Relations Directorate, Ilgvars Kļava.

At the consultations, the two sides discussed issues bordering on food processing, aviation sector, forest management, mathematics and science inclined educational curriculum in Latvia as well as Latvia’s experience in applying Information Communication Technology solutions to State administration and reforms. The Ghana side expressed interest in drawing on Latvia’s experience of effective forest management and the prevention of environmental pollution, as well as the application of various digital solutions in the public sector. Both sides also deliberated on possible bilateral cooperation in the education such as student exchange programmes in the fields of technical sciences and agriculture.

After the political consultations, a meeting was held at X Infotech- a global provider of software solutions for electronic identity documents and payment cards. At the meeting, the Co-owner and Business Development Director, Mr. Sergey Yeliseyev, apprised the Ghana side of their activities and capabilities in using advanced Electronic Identification and Smart Card Technology to give an extra boost to economic development, security and border control, and the social and financial environments of countries on a global scale.
