During their private meeting that followed the brief but colourful ceremony, Amb. Akua Dansua commended President Grybauskaitė for providing exceptional leadership to Lithuania since assuming office in 2009. She noted that over the years, Ghana and Lithuania had established themselves as peaceful and stable democratic states and, therefore, called for strong bilateral cooperation between the two countries in sectors such as oil and gas, ship-building, ICT, education, tourism and agro-processing.

President Grybauskaitė lauded Ghana’s achievements especially in the implementation of reforms. She stated that there were real opportunities for the expansion of economic relations between Ghana and Lithuania. She noted in particular, Ghana’s well-developed recreational facilities which she said held potentials for boosting tourism.

As part of the visit, Amb. Akua Sena Dansua held meetings with the Vice Minister of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mantvydas Bekešiu; and the Director of Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department of the Ministry, Ms. Ina Marčiulionytė. She also met the leadership of the Lithuanian Business Community and some Ghanaian students studying in the country. The Ambassador was accompanied on the trip by Mr. Samuel Adotey Anum, Minister/Head of Consular Affairs; and Mr. Michael Nyaaba Assibi, First Secretary/Political & Diaspora Affairs.
